
Enamelling Weekend Course with Linda Connelly
Linda Connelly will be coming to Faversham to do a weekend of enamelling at More Than Metal on 2nd & 3rd August. We are very lucky to have Linda doing a workshop as she is an award winning enameller.

For both Saturday and Sunday the enmalling weekend will cost £250
If you would like to join one of the day it will cost £150

On the course Linda will supply enamels and copper/silver blanks.
There will be a fee for the blanks and this will cover the use of the enamels.
Copper blanks £2-£5 and this includes the enamels.
Silver £12-£16 and this includes the enamels.
Saturday – Copper day 10:00 – 16:30
This course will introduce you to the the techniques involved in the application and firing of opaque and transparent vitreous enamels on copper. We will explore ways of using enamels to create colourful, textural pieces using stencilling, sgraffito and basse-taille. The same techniques can also be used and adapted for use on silver. Suitable for complete beginners and those with some previous experience.
You will be introduced to a variety of printing techniques with enamel including using rubber stamps, riso-screens and hand-made decals. We will create a series of samples on copper.

Preparation of enamel
Sifting and wet laying opaque and transparent enamels
Use of counter enamel (enamel on the reverse)
Making and using stencils
Sgraffito using opaque enamels
Using hammers, punches and rolling mills to create textured metal surfaces (basse-taille) under transparent enamels.
Finishing techniques such as glossy and matt enamel
Designing for enamel and how to incorporate enamel into other jewellery
projects.
Sunday – Silver day; but you can continue using copper. 10:00- 16:30
This course will introduce you to the the techniques involved in the application and firing of transparent enamels onto silver using cloisonné. This is where wires are formed to outline the design. These are fused to the surface and used to enclose the enamel. Suitable for complete beginners and those with some previous experience.
